To be a good event photographer you need to have a broad range of skills at your disposal, and you need to be able to draw on these skills instantly. Almost anyone can set up a good photograph given the time, space and some willing models.

Working at events you rarely get even one of these luxuries: most photographs will be candid or opportunistic and shot from the side-lines. That’s why you want to make sure that you book someone that not only has the skills to take excellent photographs but has the experience required to know when and how to put these skills into practice. When you are shooting candid portraits one minute, mountain bikers the next and classic aircraft immediately after that you need to be flexible.

Dougie has extensive experience photographing everything from live music to air shows, triathlons to mountain bike races and more. Being out there and doing the job he has developed a knack for capturing the atmosphere of an event that will make you glad you have come to him.

Landscape

Landscape

In many ways landscape photography is one of the purest forms of photography: just you, the camera and the landscape. With a strong composition and the right conditions a familiar place can suddenly gain a new lease of life, or can inspire people to travel round the world to visit a place they have only dreamt of.

A good landscape photograph transports the viewer to another time and place, it creates a connection with them that is much more powerful than a mere representation of a pretty view. It elevates photography beyond a medium for recording images to an art form in the truest sense.

Dougie Cunningham offers a portfolio of landscape prints that we feel achieve this from locations around the world that have inspired me personally, each photograph as unique as the locations the portray.

Prints are available, and commissions welcome. Leading Lines will also be offering landscape photography workshops and courses in the near future.

So what exactly is adventure photography anyway? Well, that depends entirely on what your idea of an adventure is…. And that’s the beauty of it all: everybody’s idea is different.

Whether your next adventure is walking the West Highland Way or abseiling for the first time, Dougie will be right there with you to record it. If it’s something you’re doing for yourself or if you’re looking for images to sell a story or product, he will be there to get the photographs that do it justice.

Getting good photos of adventure sports is all about putting yourself in the right position to capture the action and to make it look as dramatic and exciting as it feels. Dougie Cunningham is an experienced climber, kayaker and hiker and have had more than a few adventures myself along the way so not only does he appreciate how much your experience means to you, he also has the skills to position myself safely in whatever environment you are venturing into and get the shots that matter.

Previous clients include Lowe Alpine, Lyon equipment and Petzl. If you work in the outdoor or adventure sports industry and you are looking for someone to take marketing, product or lifestyle images, then look no further!

Dougie Cunningham prides himself on producing exceptional wedding photographs with a professional, friendly service both during the planning stages and on the day. Your wedding day should be one of the best days of your life: you’ve put a lot of work and effort into the planning and all your friends and family are gathered together to celebrate of your future lives together. It’s all about you!

A wedding photographer’s primary role is to produce images that complement people’s memories of the day. If their overriding memory is of the photographer getting in the way or ordering people around then that photographer has failed in their job. Dougie Cunningham’s reportage style is not only unobtrusive but perfectly suited to capturing the true atmosphere of the day rather than fixed smiles at twenty paces. His relaxed and friendly attitude makes the group photographs a fun experience rather than a chore.

Dougie will meet with you well in advance of the wedding to discuss the plans for the day and any specific photographs that you might have in mind. He also prefers to visit the locations for the service and the reception in advance in order to plan how to get the best photographs of your day. All of this means that on the day everything runs that much more smoothly and we are making the most of the venues that you have chosen for your wedding.

After the wedding each photograph is processed individually to ensure the best possible quality, and will provide you with a disk containing image files within 4 weeks of the wedding. You will have full copyright to the images and are free to print as many copies as you want for friends and family – a feature that not all photographers offer! In addition to this, we do also offer several printing packages, including custom hardback wedding albums.
